Plot:

Rama Chander Rao (Rao Ramesh) is a middleclass father who can afford the education of only one of his two kids and hence aspires to make his studious son Karthik (Ram Charan) an IAS officer. But Karthik gives up his education for the sake of his sister Kavya (Kriti Kharbhanda) and becomes stunt man with the screen name Bruce Lee. Riya (Rakul Preet) is a game developer who wants to design a game upon Karthik assuming him to be a cop. Jai Raj (Sampath Raj), the chairman of Anuradha Pharmaceuticals (the firm where Rama Chander Rao works) wants to get his son Rahul (Amitash Pradhan) married to Kavya. In a series of unexpected events, Bruce Lee locks horns with notorious criminal Deepak Raj (Arun Vijay), the son of Jai Raj. So how did Karthik expose the dark shade of Jai Raj, his son & save his family forms the rest of the story.

Performances:

Ram Charan: The Mega Powerstar looked uber stylish and as usually enthralled his fans with his overall performance. It is a delight for the fans to catch him in action, especially in the fight sequences and he was a killer in the songs with his look and dances.

Rakul Preet: She was unarguably at her glamorous best in the film. She was drop dead gorgeous though out the film, especially, the songs are a must watch only for Rakul. If not an exaggeration, even outshined Cherry with her glamor and energy (Ahem ahem).

Arun Vijay: This Yennai Arindhaal fame actor won brownie points with his much apt balancing act. Tollywood gets a new villain.

Kriti Kharbanda: She suited well as Ram Charan’s elder sister and gave her best to this entertainer.

Brahmanandam: He tried to evoke few gags as frustrated cop Sukuzi Subramanayam but this time doesn’t go overboard.

The rest of the cast including Sampath Raj, Nadhiya, Rao Ramesh, Thanikella Bharani, Amitash Pradhan, Saptagiri, Posani, Prithvi, Vennela Kishore, Ali & others played their part.

Analysis:

This is a film after a debacle like Aagadu. So, people are naturally curious about what Srinu Vaitla has in store in his next. It is the film of a crowd puller like Ram Charan and on top of it, the old pals (Kona Venkat & Gopi Mohan) patched up – what else can this ace commercial director ask for? 

But Srinu Vaitla once again does what he is really good at – knitting a story around a father-son equation and telling a cop story in his Dookudu format. However, Srinu Vaitla learns some quick lessons here. The smart director who is well aware of the criticism over him picks the same format and tries to retell the story with some modifications. Firstly it is the brother-sister sentiment besides his usual father-son equation that Srinu choses and secondly, our hero is a stunt man unlike a cop/under cover cop (but eventually ends up operating like one). Now, Srinu Vaitla cuts down heavily on individual comedy tracks and tries to bring in some situational comedy. But he couldn’t sacrifice his mark completely and hence we have characters like Suzuki Subramanyam (Brahmanandam), Uganda Yugandhar (Vennela Kishore), PK (Ali), David Master (JP) in place to evoke some laughter. 

The first half sails off with the romantic track of Ram Charan & Rakul Preet, some fight sequences, mass songs, some engaging performances by Arun Vijay, Sampath Raj, Rao Ramesh & others. Unlike the routine, the interval arrives on a rather subtle note. The second half can remind you of Aagadu. Things start quickly and conveniently hopping towards the climax but before you can jump to a conclusion, the Mega tsunami sweeps you off.

If you are a hard core fan, you might forget what you have watched all the while and will be walking out truly hypnotized by the mere presence of the Megastar! 

Merits:

- Performances of Ram Charan, Rao Ramesh, Arun Vijay.
- Glamor of Rakul Preet.
- Chiranjeevi’s Cameo.
- Cinematography by Manoj Paramahamsa.
- Songs and background score of Thaman.

De-merits:

- Age old story, screenplay and treatment.
- Engaging first half but content less Second half.

Music:

Thaman’s music was as usually peppy and groovy with the right blend. Le Chalo song tops the chart even some amazing picturization. The back ground score was decent enough but that of Megastar Chiru’s entry was truly impressive.

Others:

Cinematography by Manoj Paramahamsa, Editing by MR Varma & Art Direction are commendable.

Verdict:

Bruce Lee The Fighter is an ordinary Srinu Vaitla mark commercial entertainer rightly saved by Megastar’s cameo. Mega fans might love it but it is a one time watch for the rest and that too for the Megastar!

Recently Vishnu along the faculty of his college (Sree Vidyanikethan Engineering College) has visited a village named Shirpur in Maharastra which was adopted by his friends and was turned into a Model village. After that Manchu Vishnu decided and has adopted 10 villages in Chandragiri Mandal of chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh. Vishnu is mainly focusing to provide Education, Water, and Toilets.

Vishnu’s next move is to meet the Andhra Pradesh chief minister Mr. Chandra Babu Naidu  and discuss his plans of developing the villages. Vishnu also formed a ‘Green Army’ team comprising of students from his education institutions, who will visit all the nearby villages and create awareness about sanitation. This is really inspiring and we wish more industrialists and other stars come up with such activities.

After many days we are hearing news about the two of pillars of Mega family meeting each other. Today Pawan Kalyan has met Chiranjeevi at his residence and has congratulated him on his birthday.

Review : Kick 2 – Mass Entertainer

Kick 2 is one of the most awaited films in the recent times. Directed by the talented Surender Reddy, this film has Rakul Preet as the female lead and has hit the screens today. Let’s now see how it is.

Story:-

Robin Hood(Ravi Teja) is a doctor who comes to India to solve his land disputes. There, he meets Chaitra(Rakul Preet) and falls in love with her. One fine day, Chaitra is suddenly kidnapped by some goons and Robin Hood is left helpless.

As time passes by, Robin Hood finds out that Chaitra is kept hostage in her native village called Vikaspur. He decides to take things in his hand and heads to her village to save her.

Twist in the tale arises when he crosses path with Suleman Singh Thakhur( Ravi Kishan) who is troubling the villagers with his vicious activities. Rest of the story is as to how Robin Hood saves the villagers from the evil clutches of Suleman Thakur and also wins his love.

Plus Points:-

Undoubtedly, Ravi Teja is the biggest asset of the film. Right from the word go, it is his strong screen presence that holds the film together. The mass Maharaja is quite hilarious during the first half and gives a balanced and emotional performance in the second.

Rakul Preet gets a meaty role and suits perfectly in both the village and modern avatars. Her chemistry with Ravi Teja is crackling and lights up the screen. First half of the film is quite entertaining and has all the elements which are expected of a typical Ravi Teja film. Brahmanandam’s track with Ravi Teja and their comedy episodes evoke superb laughs.

Yet another major plus point of the film is Thaman’s thumping background score which elevates the film to another level. Second half of the film gets high on emotions. The film takes a new dimension post interval and the last twenty minutes have superb mass elements. Ravi Kishan is fearsome as the main villain and does a pretty decent job.

Minus Points:-

Even though the film is high on emotions, the second half lacks basic entertainment. Audience who come in with certain expectations associated with comedy in the Kick franchise might get slightly disappointed. The first fifteen minutes post interval is boring and stretch the film unnecessarily.

Yet another major drawback of the film is the predictable nature of the script. There are no twists and turns where you tend to get surprised with the proceedings. Ravi Teja looks way too slim in certain scenes.

Kick 2 moves on a single thread and does not give much scope for comedy in the second half. Length of the film is a tad too long as many scenes could have been easily edited.

Technical Aspects:-

Surender Reddy’s films have always been high on technical values and Kick 2 does not fall short of its expectations. Camera work is stunning as the rustic villages have been showcased in a superb manner. All the locations chosen look natural and bring a specific flavor to the film. Editing is below average as many scenes could have been removed to make the film crisp.

Dialogues are pretty good and suit Ravi Teja’s body language well. Thaman’s music is superb as all the songs have been shot exceptionally well. Screenplay is a bit predictable but catches pace during the end. Kick 2 looks quite grand and credit should go to producer Kalyan Ram for not compromising on the production values of the film.

Coming to the director Surender Reddy, he had a huge responsibility of repeating the Kick magic which he manages to an extent. This time around, he gives due importance to emotions and deals the film on a serious note.

Verdict:-

On the whole, Kick 2 is yet another mass Ravi Teja film which has entertainment and emotions in equal doses. But lack of basic entertainment in the second half let’s down the film to an extent. However, a hilarious first half, beautiful songs and Ravi Teja’s strong screen presence in the film over shadow these flaws and decently entertain you with its emotional content.

దిమ్మ తిరిగి బొమ్మ కనపడుద్ది అంటారే - అలా ఉంటాయ్ ఉపేంద్ర సినిమాలు. తెరపై ఏం జరుగుతుందో, ఎందుకు జరుగుతుందో, అసలు ఏ పాత్ర ఎప్పుడు, ఎందుకు, ఎలా బిహేవ్ చేస్తుందో అర్థం చేసుకోవడానికి ఐన్ స్టీన్లు దిగిరావాలి. అసలేం తీస్తున్నాడో తనకైనా అర్థం అవుతుందా?  అనే డౌటు సామాన్య ప్రేక్షకుడికి రావడంలో తప్పేం లేదు. అంతా కన్ఫ్యూజనే. 'శుభం' కార్డుతో సినిమా మొదలెట్టిన ఘనత ఉపేంద్రది. మళ్లీ అలాంటి తలతిక్క సినిమా ఒకటి తీశాడు. ప్రేక్షకులతో బంతాట ఆడేసుకొన్నాడు. ఆ సినిమానే 'ఉపేంద్ర 2'.

కథేంటింటే.. - సారీ. అదొక్కటీ అడగొద్దు ప్లీజ్. ఎందుకంటే ఈ కథ కథేంటో ఎంత జుత్తు పీక్కున్నా అర్థమవ్వదు. బహుశా..  అర్థమవ్వాలంటే.. ఉపేంద్రకున్నంతబోల్డు జుత్తు మనకూ ఉండాలి. ఎందుకంటే.. జుత్తు ఎంత పీక్కున్నా మిగిలే ఉంటుంది కాబట్టి! భవిష్యత్తు గురించి ఆలోచించకూడదట.. అలా ఆలోచించడం వల్లే అన్ని సమస్యలూ వస్తున్నాయట.  అందరూ ఈ క్షణంలోనే బతకాలట. అలాంటి వాడి కోసం వెదుకుతుంటుంది హీరోయిన్. 'నువ్వు' (ఉపేంద్ర)కి అవే లక్షణాలుంటాయి. ఆయనే మన హీరోగారు. అందుకే నువ్వు చుట్టూ లవ్వూ లవ్వూ అంటూ తిరుగుతుంటుంది. ఈ 'నువ్వు'కి ఓ భయంకరమైన ఫ్లాష్ బ్యాక్ ఉంటుంది. అది తెలుసుకొని హై ఓల్టేజ్ తీగపై కాలేసినదానిలా కెవ్... అంటుంది హీరోయిన్. ఈ నువ్వు కోసం మాఫియా డాన్ పిచ్చికుక్కలా ప్రపంచమంతా తిరుగుతుంటాడు. ఓపోలీస్ ఆఫీసర్ కూడా 'నువ్వు' కోసం తెగ గాలించేస్తుంటాడు. ఈ 'నువ్వు' ఒక్కడే అనుకొంటే నువ్వుకి 'నేను' అనే మరో పిచ్చోడు కూడా తోడవుతాడు. అసలు వీరిద్దరూ ఎవరు? ఎవరి ఫ్లాష్ బ్యాక్ ఏంటి?  ఎవరి తిక్క ఎంత? ఆ తిక్కకున్న లెక్కేంటి? అనేది సినిమా చెప్పాలి.  ఇంత సినిమా చూసిన మన పరిస్థితేంటి?.. అన్నది దేవుడే చెప్పాలి.

ఈ నువ్వు ఏంటో, ఆ నేను ఏంటో.. మధ్యలో మనం ఏంటో.. ఎంత ఆలోచించినా అర్థం కాదు. చాలా చాలా చాలా కన్ఫ్యూజన్ స్టోరీ ఇది. అసలు ఉపేంద్ర కథ రాసుకొనే బరిలోకి దిగాడో, లేదంటే తనకు తోచింది చేసుకొంటూ వెళ్లాడో.. అనిపిస్తుంటుంది. ఉపేంద్ర సినిమాలన్నీ తిక్కతిక్కగా ఉంటాయన్నది మనకు తెలుసు. కానీ ఇంత చెత్త చెత్తగానూ ఉంటాయా అనేది మాత్రం ఈ సినిమాతోనే తెలుస్తుంది. ఇది చాలదన్నట్టు.. సినిమాలో ఓ చోట 5 నిమిషాల పాటు బొమ్మ కనిపించదు. స్ర్కీన్ అంతా తెల్లగా ఉంటుంది.  ప్రొజెక్టర్ ఆగిపోయిందో తెలీదు, టెక్నికల్ సమస్యో తెలీదు. ఉండాలో బయటకు వెళ్లాలో తెలీదు. ఆఖరికి ఓ వాయిస్ ఓవర్ వస్తుంది. మనలో జ్ఞాన జ్యోతుల్ని వెలిగించడానికి. 5 నిమిషాలు ఏం కనిపించకపోయే సరికి మీకు మీరు ఎన్ని ప్రశ్నలు సంధించుకొన్నారో తెలుసా??  అంటూ ఓ సైకాలజీ క్లాసు మొదలవుతుంది. ఏ సినిమాలో అయినా ఇంతకంటే టార్చర్ మరోటి ఉంటుందా..??

ఏ పాత్ర ఎలా బిహేవ్ చేస్తుందో అర్థంకాదు. ఏ సన్నివేశం ఎందుకొస్తుందో అంతుపట్టదు. ఓ దశలో మనం చూస్తుంది సినిమానా, మనమసలు థియేటర్లోనే ఉన్నామా లేదంటే పిచ్చాసుపత్రికి వచ్చామా అనే డౌటూ వేస్తుంటుంది. థియేటర్లోంచి పారిపోవాలన్న కోరికను బలవంతంగా అణచుకొంటూ.. ఉపేంద్ర ఏమైనా అద్భుతం చూపిస్తాడా అన్న పిచ్చి ఆశతో, కూర్చుంటే.. సీను సీనుకీ ఉపేంద్ర ఓ సైకోలో భయపెడుతూనే ఉంటాడు. సెకండాఫ్ అంతా గందరగోళం. ఏదో చెప్పాలని ఇంకేదో చూపించి, ఇంకేదో మధ్యలో వదిలేసి, సడన్గా ఇంకో మేటర్లోకి వెళ్లిపోయి.. ఆఖరికి ఏదీ చెప్పకుండానే బయటకు పంపించేశాడు ఉపేంద్ర. క్లైమాక్స్ లో ఎన్ని ప్రశ్నలో. సినిమా మొదలైనప్పటి నుంచీ ఆడియన్కి ప్రతీ సీన్కీ ఓ ప్రశ్న మొలకెత్తుతూ ఉంటుంది. దేనికీ ఉపేంద్ర సమాధానం ఇవ్వలేదు. బహుశా తన దగ్గరే సమాధానం లేదనుకొంటా. లేదంటే ఈ సినిమా ఉపేంద్రలాంటి సో కాల్డ్ మేధావులకే అర్థం అవుతుందనుకొంటా. మొత్తానికి రెండున్నర గంటల పాటు ఉపేంద్ర రాచి రంపాలు పెట్టాడు.

టెక్నికల్గానూ ఈ సినిమాలో చెప్పుకోవడానికి ఏం లేదు. ఏ సీన్ చూసినా ఉపేంద్ర తాలుకూ పైత్యం, భీభత్సం కనిపించడం తప్ప. కొన్ని సీన్లు బాగానే ప్రజెంట్ చేసినా - అందులో లెక్కలేనన్ని ప్రశ్నలు ఉదయించడంతో, వాటికి సమాధానాలు దొరక్క ప్రేక్షకులకు అసంతృప్తే మిగులుతుంది. ఉపేంద్ర ఎప్పట్లా పిచ్చపిచ్చగా నటించేశాడు. మిగిలినవాళ్లెవ్వరికీ పెద్దగా నటించే అవకాశం ఇవ్వలేదు. ఆ మాటకొస్తే ఏ పాత్రకీ అంత సీన్ లేకుండా పోయింది.

కథకుడిగా ఉపేంద్ర ఔట్ ఆఫ్ ది బాక్స్ ఐడియాలతో వస్తుంటాడు. ఆ తరహా సినిమాలు ఇష్టపడేవాళ్లకు ఉపేంద్ర నచ్చుతాడు. కాస్త లోతుగా ఆలోచిస్తే ఉపేంద్ర అర్థమవుతాడు. కానీ ఈ సినిమాలో దానికీ స్కోప్ లేదు. ఉపేంద్ర ఔట్ ఆఫ్ ది బాక్స్ ఆడియాల్లో వరస్ట్ ఐడియా... ఉపేంద్ర 2. అంతకంటే ఈసినిమా గురించి ఇంకేం చెప్పలేం.

Mahesh Babu is however ready for the shooting of his next movie “Brahmotsavam” by Srikanth Addala signs another two movies offered by Trivikram Srinivas and Puri Jagannadh (According to sources).

The shooting dates of these movies are not yet confirmed because Trivikram Srinivas is busy in directional venture of Nithin and Samantha. And Puri Jagannadh has to put pen on paper to start the project with Mahesh Babu.

Mahesh Babu's "Srimanthudu" has received an earth-shattering response at the worldwide box office and the flick has beaten the first day collection record of Power Star Pawan Kalyan's "Attarintiki Daredi".

"Srimanthudu" has been creating positive buzz in the media ever since director Koratala Siva announced it. Its promos have worked in favour of the movie and garnered a lot attention. In addition, its makers had organised many promotional events for the flick. The huge hype helped the film register an average of 70% advance booking for its opening day in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka and a few other parts of the globe.

The makers of "Srimanthudu" held benefit shows in some areas of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Karnataka. These shows started at around 4.00 am on Friday and the movie registered 100% occupancy in all the centres. The audience at these early shows praised the movie. The strong word of mouth spread like wild fire on social media minutes after the first show concluded.

Released in around 2,500 cinema halls, "Srimanthudu" opened to a massive response with theatres witnessing unprecedented crowd in most centres. The movie ran to packed houses in almost all centres in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Karnataka. The film witnessed an average of 90% footfalls in other parts of India and abroad in all morning, matinee, evening and night shows.

The distributors of "Srimanthudu" were forced to increase the screen count after seeing the huge demand. They are yet to reveal the details of the collection on its opening day. But, if we are to go by the early estimates, the film has collected approximately Rs 13+ crore in AP/T box office on the first day. It has beaten the record of "Attarintiki Daredi", which had raked in Rs 10.75 crore on its opening day

For Indian Cinema, Rajamouli’s ‘Baahubali’ is a way ahead of our Bollywood and regional movies in terms of technical brilliance and visualisation of an epic drama in the context of using visual effects. So we are trapped psychologically to think that ‘Baahubali’ should go to Oscars.

Does the film maker also think that his film can be an Oscar contender? Rajamouli admits that ‘Baahubali’ is definitely something like a notable attempt in Indian Cinema. But coming to World Cinema, we are still taking baby steps and comparisons with international film standards a bit stupid.

Rajamouli quips, “For me Oscar is a joke.” Some of our movies like Aamir Khan’s ‘Lagaan’ stood strong in Oscar competition but that is due to the strong story. Coming to technical aspects, Baahubali is really the best of Indian Cinema till date.

However Oscar for technicality is like anticipating too much because we find far more brilliantly made films in Hollywood. Kudos for Rajamouli for being grounded! He knows how far his movie’s reach without miscalculations. But as Indian audiences, we would be elated to see ‘Baahubali’in the Oscars entry list. Don’t we?
